Go Green! Do We Have Your Current Email?
|
|
In first quarter of 2008, the DSAC will begin sending out the monthly newsletter via email. Members are encouraged, but certainly not required, to take this publication “electronically”. Related to this effort, we will be mailing out postcards to every member and professional that we have in our database. We will be requesting email addresses primarily, but of course gathering any contact updates.

The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology issued a new Practice Bulletin
|
|
A month ago, The American College of Obstetrics and
Gynecology issued a new Practice Bulletin (attached) in its December
issue of its medical journal, Obstetrics and Gynecology, entitled,
"Invasive Prenatal Testing for Aneuploidy." This Practice Bulletin
extends the previous guidelines by now calling upon all women,
regardless of age, to be offered invasive prenatal testing (such as
amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling) for conditions such as
Down syndrome. The previous guidelines, issued a year ago, recommended
only prenatal screening tests (such as the quadruple and triple
screens).

Online Support Group
An email support group has been set up by members of the DSAC. It is a place to chat with other members, ask questions, offer advice, as well as, post pictures of your family. This is a great way to get in contact with other people in the Charlotte area who have children (or other family members) with Down syndrome. The more people that join, the more active the board will be.

For more information feel free to contact Sandra Donahue or Angie Tate
donates $0.01 for every internet search to the DSAC.
